Introduce cerdas Bangsa (Tangerang)

Indonesia is one of the largest archipelagos in the world that has 17,508 islands, situated between 6 degrees northern latitude and 11 degrees southern latitude and spreading from 97 degrees to 141 degrees eastern longitude and it is located between two continents – Asia and Australia/Oceania. This strategic position greatly influences the country’s culture, social, politics and economy.

Stretching along 3,977 miles between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, Indonesia has a total area of 1.9 million square miles including the ocean waters. The five large islands of Indonesia are: Sumatera covering 473.606 square km, Java with 132.107 square km, Kalimantan (the third largest island in the world) with an area of 539.460 square km, Sulawesi with 189.216 square km, and Papua with an area of 421.981 square km.

Indonesia is very rich in natural resources that are spread all over the archipelago and include minerals, oil, forest and many of the other riches of the world. Ironically, however, welfare in this country still falls far short of expectations. Many people still live below the poverty line, even though they live in areas that are very rich in natural resources. Without question, it is these ironical circumstances that encourage people to demand justice and equal attention from those who have enjoyed many of the natural riches owned by the people inhabiting these areas.

Cerdas Bangsa stands to doing valuable SMART for Indonesian Develop¬ment, which was established in 10 Oktober 2004 in Jakarta. It became a legal corporate on 2004 as a non-profit organization. 10 Oktober 2004 Notaries deed No 98 by Public Notary Ny. Martinah Warmasyah, SH with No. 3 Tahun 2004. Although list of Department of Internal Affairs (Depdagri) : 37/D.III.3/XI/2004 and list of Pengadilan Tinggi (high court) in East Jakarta No. 40/Leg/LL/2004. Cerdas Bangsa was established to share experience and knowledge on issues and concerns which support and help the work of CSO in assisting, educating, and empowering poor people in the struggle to achieve their mission, vision and goals.

Cerdas Bangsa (Tangerang) is one representative National Cerdas Bangsa in Jakarta. Cerdas Bangsa (Tangerang) is to concern in Banten (province) Area and especially for Tangerang Area (town and Kabupaten)

The complexity of the problems faced by the country and the international forces that have a large impact on Indonesia, demand from the CSO a quick response to the changes in the local, national and international level. In this regard, CSO are expected to be able to provide solutions and alternatives to the problems faced by the communities, particularly the poor and dis¬advan¬taged people.

The complex problems that exist at the local, national and international levels, in addition to the internal organizational weaknesses of the grass¬roots organizations, require better manage¬ment and systems that are able to effectively and efficiently bring about reforms to the benefit all stakeholders. Therefore, Cerdas Bangsa (Tangerang)concentrates its objectives on empowering CSOs in a synergetic way, aiming to counter the negative impact of globalization and the organizati¬on-al weaknesses inherent in local CSOs.

The reasoning of Cerdas Bangsa (Tangerang) is the prevailing misconception of conservation as an anti-people nature protection, the deepening conflict between economic use of natural resource and its conservation, the increasing domination of information and science by international research and conservation institutions, the unprecedented rate of destruction of forest and marine ecosystem, and the increasingly alienated and impoverished communities living in and around rich natural resource area.
